About Us
Mike Parker – Hunting
Allow me to introduce myself to you, Mike Parker Director of Basic Instincts, Hunting, Fishing & Nature Park.
From my love of outdoors, I am finally able to provide you with something that I have always enjoyed all of my life. From a young boy my grandfather used to take me hunting and fishing and I loved it so much. It has always been my intention to be able to host others, and showcase this magnificent part of the world to our overseas visitors.
Having lived in Rotorua for 15 years now, and initially moving here after purchasing a well-known trout fishing business, I have now combined the fishing with the hunting and taken the package to a commercial level. The hunting side has always been a hobby and as such the business has engaged the services of more experienced guides who have in-depth knowledge of the best hunting spots and techniques.
Simon Robertson – Fishing
Simon Robertson has fished the Central North Island rivers, streams and lakes for over forty years.
He is the preferred guide for many of the worlds leading specialist agencies and is recognised as one of the most experienced fresh water fishing guides in New Zealand. He is a director of New Zealand Field and Stream, a member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association, holds a licenced launch operators certificate, and holds a St. Johns first aid qualification.
His speciality is dry fly and nymph fishing in the more remote and less accessible rivers of the North Island, accessed by four wheel drive and helicopter. He has the most extensive tackle room of any guiding operation in New Zealand, carrying exclusively Sage and Simms products, arguably the world’s best in their field. Operating two modern four wheel drive vehicles, a well presented licenced boat for lake work and carry fishing licences for both the Rotorua and Taupo areas.
